Advanced PCM Granules


Phase change materials (PCM- Phase Change Material) can be used very efficiently and permanently for heat and cold storage. Such materials can also limit temperature peaks and thus create requirements to optimize efficiencies and design of electrical and electronic components. Especially paraffins can be used over a wide range of applications of up to 240 J/g. With 20 kg of Advanced PCM, you can get 1 kWh of storage power in a very narrow temperature range of the melting and crystallization point.

The Advanced PCM granules in a special form can also be used directly as a filling material in storage systems.

Since in the specific application a change from solid to liquid state takes place and paraffins with a melting point below the room temperature are already present as liquid, an encapsulation is required. A distinction is made between systems with microencapsulation (microparticles from a polymer layer and a PCM filling), macro encapsulation (manufacture of polymer hollow bodies and filling with paraffins). By using encapsulation materials, the release of the paraffins in the liquid state is prevented. Advanced PCM materials are integrated into a polymer network by a patented polymer mixture and can thus be made available for various finishing processes.

After the production of the desired component shapes, a desired surface shape and a specific surface design can be achieved by additional coatings with, for example, specially developed composite films or other coating systems.
